Terms of Service

1. Purpose

These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using the Service, as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Company and its users.

2. Definitions

• Service means all features provided by the Company, including the collection, aggregation, and analysis of AI coding tool usage statistics, tool rankings, and builder profiles, encompassing both the web service and the bggg CLI.
• User means any person who agrees to these Terms, creates an account, and uses the Service.
• CLI means the command-line program (bggg) that runs in the user’s local environment to collect and transmit usage metadata of AI coding tools.
• Usage statistics means non-identifying, aggregate metadata collected and transmitted by the CLI with the user’s consent. It does not include source code, prompts, or raw file paths (see the Privacy Policy for details).

3. Effect and Amendment

• These Terms take effect when posted within the Service.
• The Company may amend these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. Amendments will be announced within the Service at least 7 days before the effective date (30 days for changes that are material or unfavorable to users), stating the effective date and reason.
• If a user continues to use the Service after the effective date of an amendment, the user is deemed to have agreed to it. A user who does not agree may terminate the agreement.

4. Services

The Company provides the following:

• Aggregation of usage metadata for AI coding tools (editors, models, MCP servers, skills, etc.) collected via the CLI, and a personal dashboard.
• Statistics and rankings based on metrics such as adoption and retention rates.
• An optional, user-controlled public builder profile.

5. Accounts

• Registration uses a unified authentication flow via an email verification code or a third-party social login (GitHub, Google); no separate password is used. An account is created upon first authentication, and the same method is used to sign in thereafter.
• Users may not transfer or lend their account to a third party and are responsible for managing it.
• Users must provide accurate information and must not misappropriate the information of others.

6. Data Collection and Consent

• Before uploading, the CLI presents the content or a summary of the data to be transmitted (e.g., via bggg preview) and transmits data only with the user’s consent (opt-in).
• The Company does not collect source code, raw prompts or responses, raw file paths, project, company, or client names, or authentication tokens. Project paths and names are processed only as one-way hashes salted per user.
• The specifics of personal data processing are governed by the Privacy Policy.

7. Public Profiles and Rankings

• Rankings and statistics are derived by anonymizing and aggregating data from many users and are not provided in a form that identifies any individual.
• Whether a builder profile and certain metrics are made public is chosen by the user in settings (opt-in); the default is private. Users may change their visibility at any time.

8. User Obligations

Users must not:

• Misappropriate another’s account or information, or register false information;
• Interfere with the normal operation of the Service or scrape/manipulate data by abnormal means;
• Infringe the intellectual property, reputation, or other rights of the Company or third parties;
• Engage in conduct prohibited by law or these Terms.

9. Intellectual Property

• Intellectual property rights in the Service, including its software, design, trademarks, and aggregate data, belong to the Company.
• Rights in content a user adds to their profile (display name, bio, links, images) belong to the user, who grants the Company the right to use such content to provide and display the Service.

10. Changes and Suspension

• The Company may modify or suspend all or part of the Service for operational or technical reasons, with reasonable prior notice (or subsequent notice in urgent or unavoidable cases).
• The Service may include beta features that can change or be discontinued without notice.

11. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

• To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is,” and the Company does not warrant the accuracy of statistics or fitness for a particular purpose.
• The Company is not liable for damages arising from causes beyond its reasonable control, such as force majeure, user fault, or failures of third-party services (authentication or hosting providers).
• Where applicable law does not permit the exclusion or limitation of liability, that law prevails.

12. Termination and Data Deletion

• Users may request account deletion at any time via the settings screen.
• Upon deletion, the user’s account and related personal data are destroyed in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Anonymized, aggregated statistics that cannot identify an individual may be retained.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

• These Terms and use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
• The Company and users will endeavor in good faith to resolve any dispute; failing that, a suit may be filed with the competent court under the Korean Civil Procedure Act.
